A primary charge roller (PCR) places the primary charge on the OPC drum and erases any residual charge from the previous print cycle. PCI tests every PCR to ensure that it will work properly in the field. 500 volts are passed from the PCR core to its surface where a reading is taken in mega-ohms. If a PCR is below .2 mega-ohms, it is too “hot�, and will be resurfaced in our coating department. If the reading is above 5 mega-ohms, the PCR will not hold a charge and it is discarded. This ability to test and resurface PCRs gives PCI an advantage in reliability and quality not found in the remanufacturing industry.
